The song “Haiti” is one of the most compelling pieces ever written. Originally included on Veloso and Gil’s recording, “Tropicalia 2,” released to celebrate 25 years of Tropicalismo, in 1993, it attracted people’s attention during that time, because it included powerful statements about sociopolitical issues present in Haiti and also in Brazil.
