Viagens do Verão: Madrid, España

My friend Albrecht told me there is a division between those who love Barcelona and those who love Madrid, Spain. I fall in the middle. I love them both. The former is a very art and design conscious city, while Madrid oozes history, gorgeous architecture, three of the finest museums in the world (The Prado, The Thyssen-Bornemisiza and the Museo Reina Sofia), plus a big city swagger. And tapas! Think Paris meets the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Madrid is a city of wonderful neighborhoods, and the Salmanica neighborhood is particularly reminiscent of NYC. Following are photographs from Madrid, June 2010.
